Nearly 19,000 people a year die from prescription opioid painkillers—sometimes known by more familiar names like Oxycontin and Vicodin. That amounts to 52 people every day, and the numbers show no signs of slowing. The National Safety Council wants you to know that safer alternatives are available. Many people don’t realize that opioids are less effective at relieving acute pain. In fact, one of the most effective pain relief combinations is one Extra Strength Tylenol and one Advil.
